4-in-1 Excavation Set (Boys)

Four blocks with something buried inside each one. Soak a block in water for five minutes to soften it, then tap and chip with the hammer and the chisel until the find appears. Rinse it under the tap and it is ready to keep.

Read this first: the finds are random. Which dinosaurs, which gemstones and which aliens come out is not chosen, so the photos show the range, not your exact set.

Why kids keep playing with it

• It is slow on purpose. The find only appears if the child keeps working at it.
• Four blocks means four separate sittings, not one afternoon and done.
• Soak, dig, rinse. It is a small routine a child can learn and then run on their own.
• What comes out is a toy to keep, not a craft to throw away.
